Description
Mizen See Our Boys in Action at the U.S. Government War Exhibition c.1918. Dramatic poster features a three man machine gun spraying bullets into a fiery dark night. Poster advertises a large scale exhibition in Grant Park, Chicago. The action, one soldier engaged as another feeds him ammo and the other acts as a potter, was staged at a show put on by the government as an entertainment in cities across the country. Other weapons featured in these shows included tanks and planes as well as captured German weapons often referred to as war booty. These shows, just like the numerous bond drives, not only raised spirits but raised funds for the war. Poster for a single short event are inevitably extremely rare. Not in Library of Congress. 40×28 near mint, conservation backed.
