Kowarski: Polish Recovery State Loan 1920. The artist depicts a powerful and energetic Polish drummer boy drumming out orders as red and white ribbons fly the wind. Generals were said to consider drummer boys the heart of the army; tales of heroic drummer boys were a staple of army lore throughout Europe. A huge white apparition of a Polish Eagle stands behind the drummer.  On the horizon Polish cities (Lwow, Krakow, Warsaw, Poznan, Gniezno and Wilnow) appear above an urban landscape stretching across the background. 39×27 near mint, conservation backed.
