Michael Whelan Men Wanted for the Army 1908. Prewar recruiting poster pictures two important aspects of army training, communications and artillery. Although the new telegraph is featured in the foreground, signal flags are still in use. The setting suggests the rugged southwest, the scene of the army’s victory over the Apaches. 40×30 near mint, conservation backed.
