Lucille Patterson Service, Fall In 1917.  Inspired vision of horsewoman in van­guard of a stream of volunteers. The League was founded in 1917 in conjunction with the Red Cross just before America entered the war to coordinate various aid groups to meet the wartime emergency. They ran canteens for servicemen, served as wireless operators and help what was called rechickening viz. restored chicken farms in France and Belgium that had been devastated by the war. Extremely rare, not in Library of Congress. 28×20 near mint, conservation backed.
