Soldier gently washes blood from ‘a wounded friend.’ The Blue Cross Fund was founded in London in 1910.  The Blue Cross was designed to encourage kindness to animals. During World War I horses were vital forms of transport, roads were poor, often bombed, and vehicles were often unreliable.  30×20 near mint, conservation backed.
