Klodil Volunteer for the Royal Navy 1936. Lavishly sized and sumptuously produced seascape printed features cruisers gliding though slight swells under rose colored clouds. Rather at odds with the exceptional naval panorama, the artist includes the fasces, symbol of the Fascist party and the year XVI FE (Fascit Era) or 1936 for those not quite conversant with the new calendar. Mussoslini was intent on beefing up the Italian navy and promoting it as a Fascist modern miracle. Very scarce. 40×55 near mint, conservation backed.
