Description
Charles Buckles Falls Foremost! 1917. Recruiting poster calls for skilled mechanics and technically specialists to volunteer for overseas service with U.S. Army engineers three of whom are pictured working together within the confines of an inverted triangle set against a background of horizontal red and white stripes of the American flag. One uses a draftsman’s compass, another looks through a surveyor’s transit level while the third sites along the barrel of a colt .45 caliber automatic. Since the location of the army recruiting office stamped on this piece is given as 526 So. State St., we believe that it was meant to attract volunteers in the Windy City. Very rare; new to us. 31×24 near mint, conservation backed.
