Anton Otto Fischer A Careless Word …A Needless Sinking 1942. Trained in Paris, Munich born Anton Otto Fischer was a well-known marine artist in the years leading up to the war. During the war, Fischer, in his mid fifties, accepted a commission in the Coast Guard. He joined the crew of the Campbell to record the perils facing North Atlantic convoys at first-hand. His ship took part in some sharp engagements, making Fischer uniquely qualified to portray the results of an enemy attack. Nelson 137. 28×22  near mint, conservation backed.
