Description
Charles Buckles Fall’s poster for the Treasure and Trinket Fund is a classic demonstration of the romantic aura that enveloped aviation during the war. Pilots were seen as swashbuckling heroes much as astronauts would be lionized in later years. The poster asks the public to send gold, silver and plate to melt down to sell to the government. The proceeds were used to buy comforts for the men. American gold eagle is pictured soaring throught a midnight blue sky. Falls was a great master of arresting designs that had the power of immediacy and simplicity. Rare and beautiful. 40×30 near mint, conservation backed.
