Description

McClellan Barclay: Arise Americans 1941. Text reads “Your Country and Your Liberty are now in grave danger… Protect them now by joining the U.S. Navy or the U.S. Naval Reserve.” A frame of white stars surrounds a sailor wearing his whites who is tightening the protective brass cover that’s affixed to the muzzle of a large caliber deck gun. Such covers wouldn’t corrode and kept salt water spray out of the barrel. Poster issued just 6 months before Pearl Harbor. At this time the navy was better prepared for war than the army 45×32 near mint, conservation backed.
