Artist Unknown Three Victor Records That Will Teach You to Speak French Correctly in Cases of Emergency c. 1918. Although the artist is anonymous, it looks very much like the work of Leyendecker. The artist features a doughboy speaking to young French girl while a poilu looks on and listens to his French. Presumably he has just learned French from three Victor records. His new language skills can be used “in case of emergency.” Since both the doughboy and the poilu are both carrying their weapons, they are probably not too far from the Western Front where “cases of emergency” would certainly abound. Extremely scarce. New to us. 38×25 near mint, conservation backed. Additional smaller illustration only 30×28 near mint conservation backed $950.00
