Griffith whose Artcraft Picture “The Great Love” reveals officially the war work of Englishwomen.’ The artist portrays two beautiful rosy cheeked Red Cross nurses assuming the challenging burden of a heavy cross. American and British shields fill the background. The Croix is a French military medal created in 1915. Artists hints at a correspondence with Christian notion of Christ carrying the cross at Golgotha. The light effects relate to bright theatrical lighting. 40×30 near mint, conservation backed.
