Description

Anon:  Are You Trained to do Your Share? Plattsburg 1915. Rare recruiting poster featuring first training camp opened in 1915 by the War Department under pressure from patriotic groups worried about America’s lack of preparedness for war.  Rawl’s World War I Posters notes that “twelve hundred young men attended that first summer in response to colorful posters…”  Volunteers were mostly sons of businessmen who trained to become officers, should war be declared, at their own expense.  One of a set of three posters issued for Plattsburg.   27×20 near mint, conservation backed.
