Artist Unknown (A.R.?) French Canadian Come with us on the 150thf Battalion C.M.R. Lt. Col. H. Barré. c.1915. Smiling recruiting sergeant is pictured beckoning recruits as he points to a frisky Gallic cock tearing apart the much larger Prussian eagle. The deep colors of the French flag in the background add resonance to the impressive image. Very rare. 44×32 near mint, conservation backed.
