Anon: San Marco Division. Recruiting poster for the Venetian San Marco Division illustrated by the lion of San Marco presides over that Piazza San Marco. It sits atop a granite column that was brought from the Levant in the 12th century. The engineer who raised the column was rewarded with permission to set up gambling tables on the Piazza. 20×55 near mint, conservation backed.
