Description
Jobson: La Gran Bretana Defensora de la Libertad! c.1943. One of the most dramatic images of the war was issued to boost morale in South America. Jobson’s stunning image of a dogfight features Hurricanes and Russian fighters swooping down to blast German aircraft. This didn’t happen because the British and Russians fought in separate theaters of war separate by many hundreds of miles. The RAF replaced its Hurricane fighters with Super Marine Spitfires. The sharp diagonals and contrasting colors of the composition add to the dynamism of the image. Very rare. 30×20 mint, conservation backed.
