Description

Artist Unknown Spot on Sight – Enemy Uniforms 1941. Recognition poster depicts A German airman and a German sailor.  No instructions are given once the invaders were spotted.  There are no shoot on sight orders or even instructions are where to report enemy sightings.  Poster were meant to alert civilians to the possibility of invasion by sea and air.  German barges were assembled along the Channel’s French coast for Operation Sea Lion, Hitler’s proposed invasion of England. After failing to achieve air supremacy, the invasion was ‘postponed’ indefinitely as Hitler reversed course turning east to launch the invasion of Russia. 30×20 near mint, conservation backed.
