Barclay, McClelland: Untitled 1942. Particularly dariing design focuses on an airplane wheel set almost in the center of the composition. The sailor is shown adjusting the wheel’s landing gear with a graceful balletic movement. A PBY Catalina flying boat is shown lifting off behind him. The Cat was the most widely used flying boat of the war. It was used for anti-submarine patrols, as convoy escorts and was partiularly useful for search and rescue missions. PBY Coronados are shown parked on the tarmac in the bakground. 17×21 near mint conservation backed.
