Artist Unknown Giant Killers 1943. This is one of a series of ELCO prints glorifying the exploits of U.S. PT boats in the Pacific during WWII. All images are action packed. It shows three PT boats attacking what looks like a Japanese destroyer thats fallen victim to one or more of their torpedos which explodes in a ball of flame on its starboard side. These torpedos were powerful. Our PT boats fought a series of engagements with Japanese destroyers during the long and bloody Guadacanal campaign. 13×18 mint, linen backed.
