Artist Unknown: Be a Marine…Free a Marine to Fight 1943.
Female Marine, bearing an uncanny resemblance to a young Princess Elizabeth, is pictured standing in front of a panoply ofher gung-ho male counterparts. The Marines were the last service to create a Women’s Reserve. It was activated February 1943. Their training was essentially the same as the ‘regular’ program with less emphasis on weapons and more on close order drill. When training ended most were given clerical jobs 40×28 near mint.
